Praise & Prayer – May 7

Praise and prayer

Praise

  • That Beth Afanador was able to make multiple contacts for ECA in the Seattle, WA area this past week. Beth had about 20 different meetings with individuals and/or groups, asking for prayer and partnerships as far as continual teacher recruiting and funding for the ECA construction campaign. Besides touching base with former ECA staff (7), students (4), and parents (3), she was able to meet with various pastors, mission and educational leaders, and other interested individuals to share ECA’s vision and needs. Pray that God will follow up in the hearts of each one who heard the message, and that those whom God moves to respond WILL follow through.
  • For T4:8’s 1-Day Thing. It was an incredible day of sharing the gospel with many Venezuelans who are living here in Bogotá. Many significant conversations were had throughout the day, and one boy even received Jesus Christ! Several people that we met that day showed up at Sam Killins’ church the next day, and he is continuing to follow up with them. It was a very impactful day for everyone involved!
  • For Zarina Valdiri (11th) winning a scholarship to attend the Global Leadership Academy at Missouri State University this summer. Congratulations, Zarina!
  • For the opportunity ECA’s 2nd Model United Nations activity (MUNECA 18) provided for our students to apply their negotiation, debating, public speaking, and diplomatic skills!
  • For the really good parent workshop given by Yonahatan Ochoa about 10 things that help parents make a difference in their children’s lives. The workshop focused on the example parents give children, which is the foremost way children learn from their parents. The workshop was recorded and will be available on the school’s YouTube channel soon.
  • For the wonderful time all the non-academic staff had celebrating Staff Day at Parque Jaime Duque. They enjoyed a delicious lunch together, courtesy of the Board, after which they got to explore the park, courtesy of a Board member. Praise the Lord for such times that bring the ECA family together. The staff also enjoyed all the expressions of appreciation from students and academic staff throughout the morning.
  • For good progress with the construction. These last 2 weeks the team has continued working on finalizing the 1st floor space use, and at the same time they poured sand to fill the first floor up to the level of the concrete base. The bricks for the facade have already started arriving, and soon the walls will be going up. They are still meshing the structural designs and the architectural designs of the multipurpose sports court.

Prayer

  • For Nurse Sol’s mother, who is in the Yopal hospital under medical observation, recovering as best as can be expected. Keep praying with us for the Lord to facilitate her full recovery, and for her blood pressure to return to normal levels.
  • Continue to pray for the needed ECA staff for 2018-19. We still need a Pre-K, a HS math, and a HS science teacher, as well as a director of development.
  • Construction: continue to pray for funds, as we need to finance other stages of construction such as the multipurpose sports court and the annex building.
