Praise & Prayer

Praise and prayer

Praise

  • That Beth Afanador, our ECA director, was able to participate in a 2-day virtual recruiting fair sponsored by ACSI last week. Over 40 international schools and organizations participated, and over 100 job seekers had interviews with one or more schools. Though Beth had fewer than 15 actual interviews, almost all were productive and options for serving at ECA. Several were experienced teachers and the virtuality allowed interviews to be held with teachers in multiple states and countries. Pray for these contacts as they pray about the possibility of applying to join our ECA teaching team for 2021-22.
  • That Theunice Oliver, our 5th grade homeroom teacher, was finally able to meet the Ecuadorian government’s requirements to leave Ecuador and join our team in Colombia. Having her here in Bogota is a cause for great rejoicing after weeks of working through travel and legal requirements.
  • That Alcira Valbuena, grandmother to Samuel (1st) and Gabriela (Pre-K) Tello Mora, is home from the hospital now after her stroke. She has to go through rehabilitation, but it is a blessing to be home and continue her recovery there.

Prayer

  • For Carolina Zamora, Colombian Program Assistant, as she continues struggling with her health and chemotherapy. May the Lord bless her and strengthen her body and her faith in the Lord.
  • For the Cañas Medina family (Isabella in Pre-K and Juan Eduardo in 4th), as their mom, Laura Medina, continues fighting cancer. Pray for strength for the family and wisdom for the medical professionals.
  • For Oscar Gelves’ (Administrative Director) father’s health. He is also the grandfather of Miguel (12th) and María Paula (9th). The doctors don’t have the results yet for the many tests they’ve done to best understand the impact of the cancer. Pray for the results to come soon, and that they bring good news.
  • For Tasha English Moyer‘s (MS Bible teacher) father in Phoenix, Arizona as he and his wife both tested positive for COVID-19. Pray that the Lord would give them peace and wisdom as they face side effects and take the next steps.
  • For Charlotte Bard (Elementary Principal) as she makes adjustments to best manage her diabetes. Pray for wisdom for the medical team and nutritionists supporting her, self-discipline in keeping rigorous schedules, and for discernment in responding appropriately to changes in sugar levels.
  • Continue praying for government and medical leaders worldwide as they make decisions to best manage the continued impact of COVID.
